This is my first video Thrift Store Adventures that I created using a Flip video camera I received for Christmas.
For this first video installment, my ohana wanted to go to Walla Walla, Washington (about a 45 minute drive East) to pick up a television for my nephew that he received as a gift. I made sure that I would go to a thrift store on this trip, and I had hoped to go to the Blue Mountain thrift store and Goodwill, but the Blue Mountain store is closed on Sundays (I did not know).
I drove around the corner to Goodwill and these are the results. This is unedited, so pardon the tentative mess. While I’m not in this video, my nephew is. Once I’m able to make these videos look a bit more decent, I’ll record myself.
He was one half of the husband & wife duo Delaney & Bonnie, whose extensive work and touring with everyone from Eric Clapton to The Allman Brothers Band made them a force not to be messed with for fans of blues-based rock. Delaney Bramlett died this morning at the age of 69, due to complications from gall-bladder surgery, according to the Associated Press.
Outside of his career as a singer, he wrote countless sounds that became album and concert favorites, and also did his share of producing other artists. But it is his work, with ex-wife Bonnie, that would move audiences to buy their albums and attend their concerts as if they were religious events.
It was Mr. Bramlett who motivated Eric Clapton to be more upfront with his singing, as he had only done it sparingly on the 1969 self-titled album by Blind Faith. When Clapton was putting together his first solo album for Atco, he had every intention of making it a bluesy instrumental album with guests vocalists. One article also states Bramlett moved George Harrison to learn how to play slide guitar, and a few jam sessions lead to Harrison coming up with the familiar chords in “My Sweet Lord”.
