SOME STUFFS: Timbaland up jumps his boogie with Beaterator

Timbaland helped create some of the music and sounds to be found on Beaterator, what is being called “a portable music studio featuring sounds and loops”. It’s available only for the Sony PSP, but the video above shows a bit of how the game is played, and how you can incorporate it into your own music. Considering Timbaland has been accused of sampling chip tunes. perhaps this is a way to make some nice money from gamers.

You can order your copy through CD Universe. Beaterator will be released on September 29th.

SOME STUFFS: The buzz of Kid Sister leads to headlining tour this fall

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Her bio calls her a “stunning rapper & singer extraordinaire”, but how much of that is pure hype? These days, stunning is based on how much jewels you have, and how many extraordinary singers are there? One might argue that most are truly “extra ordinary”. But Kid Sister may have the formula you’re looking for, at least judging from some of the buzz she has gained this year and she’ll prove herself with the release of her debut album, Ultraviolet (due out November 17th on RCRD LBL). This is a sliver of what is to be expected.

SOME STUFFS: mr. Gnome return with sophomore album

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I had the pleasure of discovering mr. Gnome for the first time about 18 months ago, and said in my review of their debut album Deliver This Creasure, “what the hell is this?” Or at least that’s what I felt others would say upon seeing the cover and hearing the beauty in their music.

The group, in between organized orgies, are putting the final touches on Heave Yer Skeleton, which was recorded at Josh Homme’s Pink Duck Studios in L.A.. The plan is to have it ready for release in November. Until then, you can have a sneak preview with two songs from the album.

VIDEO: Fool’s Gold’s “Surprise Hotel”

Put together a band who were dying from the heat, random people who wanted to have fun, and maybe some senior citizens. Add to it a song that has a slight nod to the sounds of Africa via Talking Heads, and you have Fool’s Gold’s brand new video, “Surprise Hotel”. It’s a fun song that will keep us warm and happy. The song itself is from their forthcoming debut album due out on September 29th, from IAMSOUND. They may get as festive in concert, check out the live Fool’s Gold experience:

SOME STUFFS: Holopaw believe 3 is also the magic number with third album

free image hosting
Fans of Holopaw have been waiting for new music to materialize, and the time is now, as this 6-piece combo are ready to bust out whi their third album called Oh, Glory. Oh, Wilderness on a record label with a great name, Bakery Outlet.

The group are about pulling different extremes from various styles into something they enjoy doing, giving that back to fans that somehow becomes intense in the eyes and ears their witnesses. The album was worked on with Jeremy Scott for a year at The Civil Defense studios in Brooklyn, far from their Gainesville, Florida home but they felt it was worth the expense to create an album that is sure to get a lot of people talking for the next year, and that buzz may begin with a song that they’re releasing (in MP3 form) as a teaser for what’s to come. It’s called “The Art Teacher and The Little Stallion” (5.3mb)

The group are currently putting together dates for a forthcoming East Coast tour.

SOME STUFFS: Pezzettino gets square for round object that goes on phonographs

free image hosting
Her bio states “Pezzettino is the story of a girl who grew up wondering what kind of square she was.” The “she” in question is Margaret Stutt, and as Pezzettino she has been releasing her unique brand of heartfelt music, utilizing an accordion (an instrument she learned on her own) to share her thoughts and ideas with the world.

She’s about to release a new 7″ single called “You Never Know”, with only 200 copies to be pressed. If she gets 200 pre-orders before September 30th, the records will be pressed in different colors. She did use the word “vinyls” but all is forgiven. Here is a recent live performance of “You Never Know”, so if you like it, show some support and bring her music home to you. The B-side has yet to be revealed, it will be a surprise.

Speaking of B-sides, mahalo to to Michael Roeder @ Play B-Sides for the tip.
