REVIEW: Tierra Negra & Muriel Anderson’s “New World Flamenco”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic When it comes to good music, sometimes all you need to do is bust out a guitar and just play. This is exactly what Tierra Negra & Muriel Anderson have done for their collabrative album, New World Flamenco (Tierra Negra Records/CGD Music), exploring the beauty and grace of flamenco music.

Upon first listen, the first group I thought of was Gipsy Kings, but New World Flamenco goes beyond that. Tierra Negra guitarists Raughi Ebert & Leo Henrichs and Anderson take on various songs and open it up to a world of possibilities. It’s the kind of music you’d like to listen to on a long drive out in the country or a steamy evening of booty sex with your lady, it’s that spiritual to where you want to extend your hands in the sky and go “holy shit, this is what life is all about”. I can see these guys opening their music to other guitarists around the world, regardless of genre. I look forward to hearing what these jam sessions will produce.
