Image and video hosting by TinyPic
King Khan is the king for a lot of reasons, and one of them is because he said he’s the king. Got it?

King Khan & The Shrines… now see, he’s the king so why would he not call his band The Shrines? Anyway, King Khan & The Shrines released three albums in a year, now who pulls that off these days? Okay, maybe a lot of great independent bands but King Khan has an independent spirit, maybe it’s because majors don’t have spirits? OH, DID I JUST SAY THAT?

Khan & The Shriners will have some music released here in the U.S. and will support this album with a tour. No no, he’s too big for SXSW, he’s heading to Coachella. YES! Check his path to the hot promised land:

SOME STUFFS: The sound of Inlets is not that of a sensitive gent

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
For al intents and purposes, Inlets is Sebastian Krueger. While there are people with him in the studio and on stage, Inlets is Krueger. Not inserts or inputs: Inlets. Got it.

His bio says his music “marries the darker ornaments of baroque pop with lo-fi intimacy”. The bio also states he enjoys “incubating songs”, which is funny to read as it is to realize. Can a Wisconsin kid living in Brooklyn go out of his way to incubate songs? He can and he has with his two EP’s, but now he wants to expand is output and vision with his debut full-length album called Inter Arbiter, to be released on Two Syllable Records.

The album, scheduled for release on April 20th, will feature Marla Hansen (Osso String Quartet), Angel Deradoorian (Dirty Projectors), and Zach Condon (Beirut) among others. It’s pop music with edges, shapes, and colors, something that you need to search for and once you do, you feel like spooning. Inlets will be happy that you spooned with him, but if you want to practice your spooning with self-made hand gestures, you can take a listen to “Bright Orange Air” (free MP3 download).

Inlets will be doing a small handful of shows in coming weeks, and you’ll be able to see him at this year’s SXSW.

Feb 08 Richmond, VA The Camel
Feb 09 Washington, DC DC9
Feb 10 Philadelphia, PA Khyber
Mar 17 – 20 Austin, TX SXSW

This is a video that shows the Inlets live experience.

SOME STUFFS: Dosh and Anticon Records unite once more

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The fifth album from Martin Dosh is entitled Tommy, and will be released by the healthy folks at Anticon. Why Tommy? That’s unknown, but what is known is this: if you like the unique mixtures, arrangements, and sounds Dosh has created with previous efforts, Tommy will be an album that you will definitely welcome with open ears.

With guests that include Andrew Bird, Ryan Francesconi, J.T. Bates, Todd Sickafoose, Mike Lewis, Jeremy Ylvisaker, it will be filled with many colors and audio possibilities, if the song “Subtractions (free MP3 download) is any indication.

You’ll want to hear more, but for now you’ll have to wait until the album is released on April 13th. Or catch Dosh on tour with Eyedea & Abilities as they head towards SXSW.
