VIDEO: Shottie & TeV95′s “Baby Baby”

A lot of artists send me their videos, and I do check each one out. Sometimes it takes me awhile for the song to hit me, others fail miserably. With Shottie, it was an immediate “like”. The vibe of the song was nice, he seemed cool and laid back, the video had a cool look and wasn’t extravagant or going beyond the boundary of what he seems to represent. This sounds like damn good hip-hop, and its visual component is complimentary.

The song is from the forthcoming album Delorean, so if you want to keep yourself updated on what they’ll be doing next, click to DeloreanAlbum.com and stay informed.

REVIEW: Duduka Da Fonseca Trio “Plays Toninho Hota”

Photobucket If you love drums and percussion in your jazz, and you want to hear how it can and should be done, pick up the new album by the Duduka Da Fonseca Trio. The band Plays Tininho Hota (Zoho) and do so with the kind of respect and power that comes from a collective of musicians who know what they’re doing. Da Fonseca (drums) is joined by Guto Wirtti (bass) and David Feldman (piano) and together they go through some brilliant songs, all from Tininto Horta’s songbook. You’ll hear tracks like “Luisa”, “Waiting For Angela”, “Bicycle Ride”, and “Retrado Do Gato”, and as you hear the close-to-eight minute rendition of “Aguelas Coisas Todas”, you wish they could add another two minutes or so.

This set was recorded two years ago but no matter: Brazilian/Latin jazz always sounds great regardless of when and where it was recorded. This is brilliance.
