This Is Book's Music

This was posted on my Twitter timeline and I’m thinking “wait, beatbox flute?” This basically unites my love for flute players and beatboxing whenever I can, ppp-ttt-ttt ppp-ttt-ttt ppp-ttt-ttt, see? I had to investigate, and this is damn good. Imagine someone like Herbie Mann or Bobbi Humphrey if they wanted to fuse their love of Doug E. Fresh with their music. This is what Viviana Guzmán does in this video. She has recorded a lot of music in the last ten years, so while beatboxing through a flute is not the only thing she does, it is a nice way to be introduced to what she has done since childhood.

She has an album due out on Reference Recordings, so you’ll want to check that out when it’s released.

She also has a sense of humor, as she shows here with some of her friends in a video that’s part of the “Shit______Say” meme.
