SOME STUFFS: Catherine Irwin ready to unleash first solo album in ten years

Photobucket
Catherine Irwin has been a principal member of Freakwater for many years, but the last time she released a solo album was ten years ago. Fans have enjoyed her output but wanted to know when she would step out again. 2012 is the year that Irwin’s second album will be released, and she’s calling this one Little Heater. The music is said to be just as rustic and moving as anything she has done, and for this effort she has Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Marc Orleans helping her out, along with Tara Jane O’Neil who worked with Irwin as the album’s producer. This is the official track listing:
01. Mockingbird
02. Dusty Groove
03. Hoopskirt
04. Sinner Saves a Saint
05. We Must Also Love the Thieves
06. To Break Your Heart
07. Piss to Gin
08. Nightshade
09. Flowers of Darkness
10. Save Our Ship
11. Pale Horse/Pale Rider
12. The Whole of the Law
13. The Banks of the Ohio

Thrill Jockey Records will release Little Heater on September 18th.

Oil is way too expensive these days, so stop being thirsty for that Texas tea. California is the place you oughta be when it comes to hip-hop, and Parallel are proof of this. “California Mindstate” shows what they’re about and have been about for almost 15 years. This is from their most recent album Dont’ Sleep, but they have a new one due out later this year called No More Secrets so stop whispering: let people know why Parallel rocks and rocks well.

The official start of summer is in a few days, so when the days get hotter, you’re going to be extra thirsty. T.S.A. knows very much about this and wants you to respect him for offering you verbal refreshment. Bambucha.

VIDEO: The Hand To Man Band’s “The Down Moveables”

The Hand to Man Band “The Down Moveables” from Post-Consumer on Vimeo.

Mike Watt, John Dieterich, Tim Barnes, & Thollem McDonas have gathered together to call themselves The Hand To Man Band, and they have just released their first video for the song “The Down Moveables”. It sounds a bit on slightly experimental/avant-garde side of things, and the video (directed by Marcos Sanchez is borrowed footage set to music, but it works all around. Damn eerie by the time it gets to the end. The song is from their debut album, You Are Always On Your Minds (Post-Consumer).
