REVIEW: Naked Brown’s self-titled EP
If you love your hard rock and heavy metal bold, loose, ballsy, bluesy, rough, and raw, you’ll want to check out Naked Brown. This 4-piece from Poland sound like they were raised on quality rock and metal from the UK and the US, sounding like a wonderful cross between Motorhead, Black Crowes, Blackfoot, Black Sabbath, and Mudhoney. Vocalist/bassist Mateusz Puchniarz sings as if he has been raised on razor blades, cigareetes, and his own vomit, singing with such a raspiness that you wonder how he is capable of holding that tone throughout a song, or over a course of four songs. One can easily see these guys opening up for Foo Fighters, Red Fang, or Valient Thorr. It sounds like the kind of rock that will make you victorious, pound your chest or skull and make you say yes, this is what life is all about. I love the acknowledgment of blues influences, they’re not afraid to let people know the roots of this music and how it’s still able to move them and millions of other rock and metal heads around the world. You are sure to hear other influences too, but what you’ll also hear is Naked Brown, and they’re hopeful you’ll make them a favorite too.
