FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD: Preach Jacobs & Marc Mac’s “Passport”

Photobucket
Now this is a very cool project: Preach Jacobs doing a track with Marc Mac of 4Hero. It’s a collaboration that may or may not be properly released, so consider this a chance to hear the work they did together.

The song is a part of a “Long Hot Summer” series, where Sound Familiar Records will upload a new track within the label family every Friday. Find out more by clicking the poster below.

FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD: Kaliraps’ “Goodbye”

Photobucket
It’s a hip-hop track that has a nice poppy touch but not overly so. In other words, he and Kashmir Royale have out together a song that is accessible but isn’t weakened by other people’s concerns. The track seems to fade out early, as I believe it is part of a mix tape, but there was no information or press release with this so…

RECORD CRACK: Resonators get into your sound system with new single

Photobucket
Wah Wah 45′s are ready to release a brand new single by Resonatos called “B.A.S.I.C.”, but how basic is it? Well, there is definitely a lot of bass in this track, which is why the first lyric you’ll hear is “B is the bass you know”, and you can definitely hear the bass with the dub version they’ve made available via Bandcamp:

The vocal version was of course used for the video, which you can see here.

The 45 can be purchased from the Bandcamp page.

SOME STUFFS: Cult Of Youth to release new album in September

Photobucket
Sean Ragon takes the DIY ethic to heart. He is not only the man behind Cult Of Youth, he is Cult Of Youth. For the recording process, he built a recording studio in his record store from scratch. While he did get some help from some of his musician friends, most of the album is played by him. He engineered and mixed the sessions, so what you will hear is a full-on Ragon project from start to finish. The final project is called Love Will Prevail (Sacred Bones), and you can hear the first revealed track from it here.

The full length album will be released on September 4th, this is what the cover will look like:
Photobucket

It will follow with a show close to home at the Public Assembly in Brooklyn. A month later, he’ll hit the road to take the music along with him:

October 19… Cleveland, OH – Now That’s Class
October 20… Chicago, IL – The Empty Bottle
October 21… Minneapolis, MN – Triple Rock Social Club
October 24… Seattle, WA – Barboza
October 25… Vancouver, BC – Waldorf Hotel
October 26… Portland, OR – Rotture
October 27… San Francisco, CA – Hemlock Tavern
October 28… Los Angeles, CA – Los Globos
October 31… Tucson, AZ – Club Congress
November 1… El Paso, TX – The Lowbrow Palace
November 4… Austin, TX – Auditorium Shores
November 7… Orlando, FL – Willis Pub
November 8… Ybor City, FL – New World Brewery
November 9… Atlanta, GA – 529
November 10… Durham, NC – Duke Coffeehouse

November 13… Philadelphia, PA – Kung Fu Necktie

BTW: on the top of the cover, it states “A LP Recorded In 2012″.
Photobucket

Shouldn’t it be “An LP Recorded In 2012?” To my knowledge, when people see the term “LP”, it’s pronounced “el-pee”. I understand if it said “A Long Player Recorded In 2012″ or “A Long Playing Record” or “A Long Playing Album”, but “A LP” is incorrect. The term “An LP” was used on the band’s debut album, also on Sacred Bones.

Oh well.

SOME STUFFS: No Spill Blood throw out the harsh sounds with new EP

Photobucket
Street Meat (Sargent House) by No Spill Blood sounds as harsh as the title of the EP suggest. It is distorted as fuck, so it’ll either blow your mind or make audiophiles go “this was either mixed or mastered with brickwall limiting, I will not listen to them because they are not sonically pure.” For them, the blowout sound is perfect for what they do, as it’ll make you feel like your eyes are going to bulge or make you wish you didn’t have to suffocate through that clusterfuck of sound.

No Spill Blood are an Irish band whose members come from other bands that may be familiar to you:
Lar Kaye (of Adebisi Shank)
Ruadhan O’Meara (of Magic Pockets)
Matt Hedigan (of Hands Up Who Wants To Die? and Elk)

When those bands had taken time away from each other, Kaye, O’Meara, and Hedigan decided to find out what happens when they jammed. Lots of hours of jamming lead to No Spill Blood. If the music sounds like a cross between celebrated rock and new wave bands of the 1980′s and some brutal punk from obscure Washington State villages, you’re on the money. This would have been considered blasphemous and disgusting 30 years ago, but this didn’t exist 30 years ago. It’s now, and it sounds like now music. Listen to their now music now.

SOME STUFFS: So Many Wizards stream forthcoming album on Dummy

Photobucket
So Many Wizards are about to release a new album next week called called Warm Nothing (Jaxart). You don’t have to wait for August 7th, you can take a listen to it for free but not here. You have to head to DummyMag.com to take a listen, so please do so.

VIDEO: Pyramid Vritra featuring Frisco’s “Drain”

Pyramid Vritra ft. Frisco “Drain” from BEARDS + BLACK EYES on Vimeo.

Stella Kae has put together a great video for “Drain”, the new track by Pyramid Vritra that is highlighted not only by footage of a stroll in the hills, but fantastic imagery of people cheering as a couch burns.

Words of warning: this video features footage of people with hats, blue jeans, a woman with no clothes, a lesbian with a hoodie, and people jumping around as they cheer on a burning couch in front of them. Be careful.

For those who don’t care and just want a damn good song with a cool video, good. The song is from the forthcoming debut album by Pyramid Vritra simply called Pyramid.

VIDEO: Gliffics’ “Burgundy Walls”

Gliffics says he has been a fan of Dilla for a long time, and in honor of him and the work he put together in his lifetime, he decided to drop a song where he rhymes over one of his favorite Dilla beats. No harm done with “Burgundy Walls”, which may or may not be double entendre, I’m not sure yet but you have a good rapper dropping some nice rhymes and lyrics, along with a sexy lady painting the walls. Now is that double entendre as well? Forget what it may or may not mean and just listen.

FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD: Gotham Green & Quickie Mart featuring Jabee’s “Natural Progression

In preparation of the forthcoming Haze Diaries Volume 4 mix tape, a video has been made for Gaotham Green & Quickie Mart’s “Natural Progression”, which the song and video is in terms of their output. The track features Jabee, and this is one of those tracks that’ll knock it and others out the box. Listen to find out why.
