Shy-Anne Hovorka is a singer/songwriter who had released two albums under her full name, but for Interwoven Roots, she wants to be simply known as Shy-Anne. Haven’t heard of her yet? Good reason to listen and learn now. With this video, she displays a modern country touch with a bit of pop crossover appeal, but with that foundation, listen and try to imagine what else she could do.
If you want to also see her on stage, check out where she’ll be next by clicking here.
This music video is not about gristle, but it can be as tasty. This is Hundred Waters, talking about “Thistle”. My first thoughts were “oh, very Bjork-ish” but as I listened deeper into it, it showed a bit more.
This is also the third animated video I posted today, this one put together by Martin Allais. If you’d like to see more of his work, click here. I welcome even more.
Earlier this morning, an animated video by Pacewon and Mr. Green was posted in honor of their brand new album. Will animated videos become the new thing for hip-hop in the next few months? There are a lot of great animators/cartoonists out there, so let’s see what House Shoes has to offer in his video for “Sweet”, a track featuring XDannyXBrownX.
The video is a collaboration between Ruffmercy, Ewen Raff, and Jonathan Jonsson, so if you want something similar for your future projects, check out their other works.
Personally, I like it when you hear surface noise on a record and the snap, crackle, and pop loops. It’s comforting like a warm fire, and also what’s comforting is this new track, which you can spark up like a fire for a freshly rolled joint. It’s Pacewon & Mr. Green, who decided to animated themselves along with Snoop Dogg and Burnt MD for an evening drive to and through the neighborhood. Rip open the match cover and roll up a crutch for this. From the new Raw Poetix album, The Only Number That Matters Is Won.
In this video you’ll see Portland artist Mike Coykendall driving through the countryside and eventually hanging out at the bridge that goes in and out of the St. Johns neighborhood. While the bridge may be known to some outside of Portland (particularly those who watch the NBC show Grimm), it’s a side of the “weird” city that most people don’t see or realize exists. To explore means hitting the outskirts, and it’s part of the passage of life that Coykendall tries to convey in his music.
The song is from his forthcoming album, Chasing Away The Dots (Fluff & Gravy), which you may pre-order via Amazon with the link below. Meanwhile, he performs tonight (September 5th) in Seattle at Barboza with These United States before driving back down the I-5 to Oregon, but he will return to the Emerald City next month. Here is where he’ll be in the coming weeks.
September 5… Seattle, WA (Barboza) (w/ These United States)
September 7… Hood River, OR (Cebu Lounge) (w/ These United States)
September 15… Portland, OR (The Doug Fir) (w/ 1939 Ensemble & special guests)
October 7… Seattle, WA (High Dive)
A few days ago, he released his video for “The Hippie Girl”, which you can take a look at here.
