AUDIO: Childhood’s “Blue Velvet”
Bobby Vinton is not involved in this equation. Instead, this “Blue Velvet” is by Childhood, a London band who are into all of pop’s perfections and imperfections, which means along with being addictive, you’ll like them for their clever quirks. A mixture of 60′s pop and garage, their press releases mentions the shoegaze movement resulting in music like this. Not bad for a band who started only last year, and originally as a duo. There are some guitar moments in this that remind me of that in Godley & Creme’s “Cry”, although you may say otherwise.
“Blue Velvet” will be released formally as a single on the House Anxiety label on November 17th.
