Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It is that time of the year where I have to bring this up one more time, but it is that time that I have to renew my web domain once more, and I am asking for your help.

What I am placing is a “tip cup” of sorts. If you enjoy the type of coverage that I feature here at ThisIsBooksMusic.com and would like for it to continue, I am looking for your donation to continue the website for another year, if not more. If you are able to “give a tip” to ThisIsBooksMusic.com, you can do so via PayPal by clicking here. Your private information is secure when you donate via PayPal, and you are also able to make a donation even if you are not a PayPal member. The deadline is September 30th.

While it would be nice for me to run advertising on my website, ThisIsBooksMusic.com is ad-free for a reason, and I’d like to keep it that way. The music I cover is the music I would like for you to listen to and discover for yourself, and pass the information along to those who you think would be interested. This website is about the music I like, support, and listen to on a regular basis, within as many genres as possible. I don’t pick and choose just to make random choices, these are my musical habits, and I share that on a regular basis. If the website is unable to be renewed, all donations will be refunded, no questions asked. If you are able to make a donation, I would be very appreciative.

AUDIO: Otis Brown III featuring BIlal’s “The Thought Of You Pt. 1″

If you follow your album credits, you may know who Otis Brown III, as he has played with Esperanza Spalding, Terence Blanchard, Joe Lovano, and Oliver Lake. He is now taking control of his own music in his own hands with his own album on Revive/Blue Note called The Thought Of You, to be released on September 23rd. From it is a track that features Bilal called “The Thought Of You Pt. 1″ and if you’re into good, intense jazz, this is just ridiculous. Pre-orders are available now via Amazon below, in the digital/vinyl/CD formats, in that order (as always).

AUDIO: Alex Metric featuring Stefan Storm’s “Heart Weighs A Ton” (excerpt)

There was a time when my uzi weighed a ton but even before that, one can say that in certain circumstances, a heart could way just as much, if not more. Alex Metric understands this all too well and his new song relays the same message, with Stefan Storm assisting. Keep in mind that the track above is only a 70 second excerpt, so…

AUDIO: Ant Coughlin featuring Tragic Hero’s “Thru the Floor”

If you’re familiar with the works of Wes Pendleton, you may already be familiar with Phiadelphia rapper Ant Coughlin. Coughlin is now branching out on his own with Pendleton handling the production of “Thru The Floor”, featuring Tragic Hero. The song will be on Coughlin’s forthcoming EP, Light Rooms, Dark Halls.

VIDEO: Dag Savage featuring Choosey’s “Darlin’”

Eye candy can definitely help in judging the quality of something, although can it? Should it? The visuals of the new video by Dag Savage (the duo consisting of Johaz and Exile) are quite nice (if not damn right attractive) but you have to have a quality song to take it over the top. Fortunately. they do and it’s called “Darlin’”, which may explain why some of the women appear in this video. The song also features Choosey, but don’t be choosy, just watch and listen carefully.

AUDIO: Barli’s “Reach For Me”

The world of pop continues to change, and one artist that is sure to make some changes if given a shot is Barli. Here’s the new song called “Reach For Me”, which sounds as if it has some kind of content because I feel it’s the type of song that will make many people content. It feels like… well, it makes you want to feel, I love the vocals in this and I want this to be massive.

FREE DL: Five Steez’s “Deadly”

If you know who Five Steez is, then you very well know his steez. What you may not know is that he has a new song. You an download it for free in the form of the DJ Crooks-produced “Deadly”. This will be a part of Five Steez’s forthcoming EP, These Kingston Times, so have a slice and get ready for what’s to come.

SOME STUFFS: Salt Cathedral will allow you to pray in a month with new EP

 photo SaltCathedral_old_zps0154a2fa.jpg
Salt Cathedral are Nicolas Losada and Juliana Ronderos, two Colombians now residing in the borough of Brooklyn. They create electronic music for fun and you are able to listen to their slice of fun with “Tease”. Not only that, but the song was remixed by Kodak To Graph, so it’s twice as fun.

If you’re already familiar with Salt Cathedral, you’ll be happy to know they have a new EP (their second) coming out on August 25th called Oom Velt, where “Tease” will have a place. The EP will be out digitally and as a 12″ on white vinyl.

AUDIO: Gent & Jawns’ “Faded” EP (full stream)

Billy The Gent and Long Jawns are the duo known as Gent & Jawns, and today they’ve released a new EP on Mad Decent called Faded, but are they faded right now? Would they like for their listeners to be faded? In a gentle way, I’m sure, but you have to take a listen to what will make you faded, in every sense of the word. Mad Decent have allowed for the EP to stream in full, so check it out above.

If you’re willing to pound the meat with Gent & Jawns in a public venue, you can do so in the coming weeks:

September 12… Austin, TX (Vulcan Gas Company)

SOME STUFFS: Radclyffe Hall wants you to say “OMG” to her and her music

 photo RadclyffeHall_old_zpsefd23bad.jpg
It’s that kind of pop that you’ll want to wake up and go to bed with may be a very bold statement as a way to be introduced to your new artist, but perhaps after listening to Radclyffe Hall, you’ll want to adjust your pillows comfortably. Hall is being described as someone who creates “dark pop”, but that could mean anything. Pop music can go in a number of avenues in a number of ways, but this is the way Hall presents herself, and you may hear the dark tones of her words and music in her song, “OMG”.

If you lived near the Berklee College of Music in Boston, you may already know the face. She was known as Dhy Berry, played the bass guitar in studios and with groups, and was a member of Mrs. Danvers, who received attention from Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney and Me’Shell NdegeOcello. Now as Hall, she wants to mold her own distinct view of the world, so while “OMG” is one view, realize that this is not her sole view. You’ll hear much more from her in the months and years to come.
