VIDEO: Red Pill’s “Ten Year Party”

New album from Detroit rapper Red Pill is called Look What This World Did To Us and if it’s been awhile since you’ve been in tune with the hip-hop that is going on in the city, have a listen to “Ten Year Party”. What does a ten year party entail? Listen for yourself and you’ll find that it may take awhile, or perhaps it’ll last a long while.

SOME STUFFS: First Bill Wyman solo album since 1982 to be released.

Bill Wyman photo BillWyman_old_zpsbw47ollx.jpg
He’s the oldest living member of The Rolling Stones, despite the fact he hasn’t been a member of the group since 1993. At 78, bassist Bill Wyman will be releasing a new album, something he hasn’t done since 1982, and it’s only his fourth album. Back To Basics (Proper) will be released on June 22nd and is being joined by Terry Taylor, Guy Fletcher, Graham Broad, and Robbie McIntosh. Wyman co-produced the album with Andy Wright, who worked with Jeff Beck, Eurythmics, and Simple Red. Wyman had always been driven to make music, but wondered if it would be appropriate for him to do so. He states “Initially I thought I’m a bit old for this but then I thought all the old blues musicians played till they dropped so why don’t I give it a go.” The Rolling Stones have always worked like blues statesmen, so it would make sense that Wyman would give it another short at this phase in his life. The album will have 12 songs and a bonus track that will be iTunes only, although I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s found on the CD in the Japanese pressing.

VIDEO: Gyasi Ross’ “Marlon Brando”

If you’ve been looking for a spoken word artist to listen to and put some faith on, check out Gyasi Ross. He’s coming out with an album called Isskootsik (Before Here Was Here), which comes from being a Native American in the Pacific Northwest, understanding his surroundings and nearby communities and also letting people know a bit of commonality that perhaps used to exist, or is quickly dissolving in modern times. There are lessons within some cultures that continue to be passed along through ancestors from generation to generation, and it’s something that should not be exclusive to one group if we are ever to become “one world, one people”. The album, which is being released on Cabin Games via Olympia, Washington-based K Records, can be pre-ordered through Amazon below. Until then, check out a song from it called “Marlon Brando”, and if Ross sounds like a cross between KRS-One and Michael Frante, then you may become a fan.

AUDIO” Ron A.R. Artist’s “Got To Get It”

Ron A.R. Artist says he “Got To Get It” and what is it? Money, and it seems to be a priority for him from something he witnessed as a child. At least that’s what he says in his brief opening verse, which comes from his upbringing in the South Bronx but there’s lot of truth and dignity when he says “my daughter’s the key on everything that I decide”, which is when the song head to a new direction, when listeners will realize the importance of getting “it”.
