If someone walked up to you out of nowhere and said “The Kid Has Issues”, what would you say? What would you think? Would you show concern and question their sanity? Mwansa wants you to listen to the issue, but you still would want to know if the issue is worth staying around for. The song is, and you should also consider staying around for future music from Mwansa as well.
It’s indie rock with a slight rockabilly touch, or at least it sounds like it could’ve been done in a rock’n’roll fashion sometime in the mid to late 50’s, and it’s by The Ruminaters, who say “I Lost My Grandpa’s Teeth”, a scary thought. The band are from Sydney but their song can be felt by people around the world.
Directed by Emmett Meade & Ben Cook, “Cold Wind From Fools” is a reflective video for Yacht Club, for a song taken from their Burnt Cream EP on Burger Records released three weeks ago. You can also pre-order the cassette version directly from Burger. A vinyl pressing and one on VHS (!!!) will be made available soon.
Exit Wounds is the latest Century Media album from The Haunted, shot live somewhere in the world with a very reactive crowd.
Joonbug said “Michael is a self-taught, naturally gifted musician who explores a unique vocal style and emotionally-infused songwriting” in reference to Michael Persall, who will be releasing his debut EP in November called This & That and in order to discover why he has received such praise, you can listen to this in the form of a song called “Stance”. If you are a fan of Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran, or John Mayer, you’ll become a fan of Persall. All of these things were mentioned in the press release, now compare him your own self.
Om will be touring next month but as you will see, they are only for the east coast and midwest. If you are a fan that have been waiting to see them, or see them again, you’ll now have a chance, or chances if you want to go the semi-groupie route.

Here’s something that’s interesting, peculiar, if not a bit on the “WTF?” side of things. Thickly Painted Walls could be the creation of a band or one man, but it sounds like someone picked up a guitar, didn’t bother to tune it and just made songs from his head. There’s something quite good in it, even when he goes off into an experimental tangent. It’s a four-song EP called Pen 15, maybe next time he’ll do a 15-song EP, each one being four seconds each. Check out other Thickly Painted Walls projects on the official Bandcamp page.
You might play this song and immediately bring to mind the ATL sound or even Twista, but his name is Canon and true to the title of the track, he knows how to “Go Off” and go off well. The actual song also features Lucius, which you’ll be able to find on Canon’s full project Loose Canon Vol. 2 (Reflection Music Group), headed out to you on October 7th.
The best hip-hop coming out today are most likely not found on a major label with very rare exceptions. If you want to find something that sounds good and is sensible, you’ll want to check out HiPNOTT Records, who just signed producer Confidence to the label. The roster continues to be solid and this signing is a very good one. Confidence just put together a song called “Can It Be”, which he did with his now-labelmates, The Regiment. While the spoken word portions are a bit too loud compared to the entire song, “Can It Be” works perfectly because of what is being said, this one one to truly listen to.
In order to get this free download, you have to click to the Soundcloud page below. It’s an Alt-J song remixed by Golden Pony, turned into a major dance extravaganza if you allow its rhythms to do it to you, and it wants to do it to you all night long, even in the morning. Maybe Golden Pony should remix more music for the next 18 months, find more remixes by heading to the official Golden Pony Soundcloud page.
