VIDEO: Benjamin Verdoes’ “So Bari”

If you are familiar with Mt. Saint Helens Vietnam Band or Iska Dhaaf, then you should know who Benjamin Verdoes is, who went on a solo route earlier this year to release an album called The Evil Eye. He decided to use the assistance of director Tristan Seniuk to create a video for one of the album’s songs, “So Bari”, which is sung in Somali. It’s a unique project that you may find yourself getting caught up in.

VIDEO/FREE DL: Devine Carama’s “Something More”

Maybe the reason Devine Carama headed to the record store in the video is because he wanted something more. Then he got there and realized he wanted something more. This is perhaps why he was inspired to write “Something More” as a metaphor for what he wants and needs in life. If this is your introduction to Devine, you can check out the Something More EP which is in the form of a freeP, which means the EP is free. Go get it.

VIDEO: DJ Dez & DJ Butter featuring Hell Rell & Wesley Valentine’s “Legends In The Game

Not only do you get a hip-hop video with authentic DJ’ing, but the song was created by two DJ’s, DJ Dez and DJ Butter. “Legends In The Game” could easily be a bit about their musical careers, but they also do this with help from rappers Hell Rell (Bronx) and Wesley Valentine (Detroit), so it could be about them too, or who they’d like to be. Maybe the term legend is being used too loosely as of late but maybe they know exactly what it takes to get those honors and maintain it. Dez and Butter have a new album out called A Piece Of The Action, which you can purchase by heading here.

For complete unadulterated hardcore punk that runs under six minutes, you’ll want to check out a new EP by Providence, Rhode Island’s Thumbscrews called Life Is Pure Joy. The EP is six songs in length, with the longest song just under two minutes, and it sounds like it was freshly recorded in their garage or basement, but comes off great. trange High House have released the EP on cassette, only 50 copies are being pressed. I hope these guys end up going into a proper studio to record a few things, and even if they’re limited to just three albums or two EP’s and five 7″ EP’s, I’ll be happy.
