PLEDGE DRIVE: Keep this website alive by making a donation to ThisIsBooksMusic.com

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It is that time of the year where I have to bring this up one more time, but it is that time that I have to renew my web domain once more, and I am asking for your help.

What I am placing is a “tip cup” of sorts. If you enjoy the type of coverage that I feature here at ThisIsBooksMusic.com and would like for it to continue, I am looking for your donation to continue the website for another year, if not more. If you are able to “give a tip” to ThisIsBooksMusic.com, you can do so via PayPal by clicking here. Your private information is secure when you donate via PayPal, and you are also able to make a donation even if you are not a PayPal member. The deadline is September 30th.

While it would be nice for me to run advertising on my website, ThisIsBooksMusic.com is ad-free for a reason, and I’d like to keep it that way. The music I cover is the music I would like for you to listen to and discover for yourself, and pass the information along to those who you think would be interested. This website is about the music I like, support, and listen to on a regular basis, within as many genres as possible. I don’t pick and choose just to make random choices, these are my musical habits, and I share that on a regular basis. If the website is unable to be renewed, all donations will be refunded, no questions asked. If you are able to make a donation, I would be very appreciative.

SOME STUFFS: Secret Someones to release debut EP on Cherrytree/Interscope Records August 26th

 photo SecretSomeones_old_zpsc0b2298b.jpg
You know what? I made no effort in writing the headline for this piece, I just cut and paste it directly from the press release I received for Secret Someones. I saw the photo, thought “cool’? Heard the song, also thought “cool” and that’s all I did. The second part of the equation is for you to react and go “hmmm, now should I remember this?” If so, cool. If not, that’s all up to you.

The EP will be called I Won’t Follow, which is the opposite of what U2 said over 30 years ago.

VIDEO: Frantic Sunday’s “The Skies (Live)”

Frantic Sunday are said to be one of the hottest bands in Sweeden (sic) now, at least in the world of pop. If you’re into mind blowing pop, you may not only like Frantic Sunday, but get frantic over the fact that this is a live performance. Watch “The Skies” and see how high you get after watching it. The band’s eponymous album will be released on October 23rd worldwide.

AUDIO: Constant Flow featuring Swave Sevah & Akir’s “Dog Tags”

It wasn’t even a week ago when I posted a video by Constant Flow but three days later, there’s another song to share for everyone who wishes to listen. This one represents “Dog Tags”, which features Akir and Swave Sevah helping out in the dog tags movement. This too will make it on his Ascension album, due September 2nd on the Viper label.

VIDEO: Sonia Rao’s “Let’s Hate LA Together”

Don’t you hate pompous asses who try to act like Los Angeles is everything they want it to be, when you know that its diversity is truly based on its differences? Don’t you hate it when people act like they own Los Angeles when you know they are from elsewhere? Conceited people are kinda goofy, and singer Sonia Rao wants to talk about some of these types of folks in her new video, a song taken from her latest album (her second), Los Angeles Part 1. Listen to the lyrics and it seems Rao knows about how bad Los Angeles can be to insiders, but hopes to find someone who can live together with for the sake of hating the place they now call home.

VIDEO: Mount Salem’s “Lucid”

There are going to be people who see Mount Salem’s video and go “oh, let’s see what this woman can do” but you know what? Women have been doing their thing in heavy metal for years, and this time you have Emily Kopplin to deal with, and when she plays the organ? Watch out. This Chicago band also features Cody Davidson (drums) Mark Hewett (bass) and Kyle Morrison (guitar), who may immediately remind some of Black Sabbath but they also have a feel that is not unlike Sleep, Crowbar, or the Pat Travers Group. Surprisingly? Let Mount Salem surprise you, only which will lead you to being comforted by what they do and are capable of doing. As for the video, Dave Skwarczek directed this for the group, who made it to let people know about their Endless album on Metal Blade. Did you know about it? Then this post has come to good use for you.

SOME STUFFS: Earthling Society new album has official release date

During the spring, I shared with you Earthling Society’s cover of Alice Coltrane’s amazing song “Journey in Satchidananda”. It will be out on their album England Have My Bones but the vinyl pressing had been delayed for a bit but there is now an official release date: August 25th, all pressed on translucent green vinyl. Only 500 copies have been made. Pre-order your copy by heading to Riot Season Records.

AUDIO: Outcast’s self-titled demo EP

If you’re looking for the type of heavy metal that brings to mind the wealth of great Swedish bands from the 1980′s, you’ll have to look toward France for Outcast, who have just released an EP. It’s four songs of solid rock from start to finish, including a 7-minute “Dreamers Wake”. It will definitely bring to mind the feeling of Yngwie Malmsteen or Helloween (and yes, I know Helloween are from Germany). This EP may be their demo (also available on cassette) but they’re ready for album power.

Maja7th | Dominique LaRue – Attucks from Red August on Vimeo.

Maja 7th and Dominique Larue released a joint album in March called Grand, and they are having a grand time letting everyone know about their collaborations. They’ve done a new one in the form of video, this time for the song “Attucks”. A live version of the Grand album, complete with real instrumentation, is said to be on its way very soon.

AUDIO: Diggs Duke’s “The Pinnacle (Of Class And Taste)”

From his forthcoming album The Upper Hand & Other Grand Illusions (Brownswood Recordings, due out on the 1st of September, here’s Diggs Duke with “The Pinnacle (Of Class And Taste)”, which is not about the penultimate, but when you are risking it all to go higher than that.
