AUDIO: ‘ticktock”s “A- A- A-“

 photo ticktock_old_zpse797ffe7.jpg
You might say Sebastian Zieler is like a soundtrack album or a Hollywood reference book for you see, he’s not just Sabastian Zieler. He wants to be known as ‘ticktock’, and this is important because his musical moniker is not only all in lower-case letters, but they are in apostrophes, to let people know that the ticktock within ‘ticktock’ is meant to be emphasized. A good thing, since he wants to emphasize his own music, which he’ll do with his forthcoming EP TCOLT. The name games continue with a song from the EP’, which is calls “A- A- A-“, and how does one pronounce that? Fortunately it may not matter, since most radio stations don’t have request lines but the good radio stations will have a way for you to contact them if needed. TCOLT will be released on March 16th through The Big Oil Recording Company.

FREE MP3 DL: Tropics’ “Let Go”

Tropics photo Tropics_old_zps0817cb9a_1.jpg
Chris Ward has taken enough of a break and with his Tropics hat back on, he decided to write and record new music for what will be his new album (his second) called Rapture, to be released on March 10th. For it, he decided to do a cover and chose a song by Little Dragon. You are able to hear his moving cover of “Let Go”, which is described as “the minimal piano driven tune unfolds into a powerful score to the message as told through Ward.” That was enough for me to listen, and it should be for you too.

AUDIO: Wyland’s “Lifeboats”

Wyland photo Wyland_old_zps0a5d6a77_1.jpg
Indie rock from New Jersey can sound in a multitude of ways but for indie rock band Wyland, it sounds like this. The “this” is part of the quintet’s forthcoming EP called You’re In The World, Get Off Your Feet to be released next month, and they’re sharing “Lifeboats” for all to hear. If Explosions In The Sky, Coldplay, and Amfwap are bands that tingle the senses, you may find these guys (and a lady) quite noce.

AUDIO: Grandbrothers’ “Naive Rider”

Grandmothers photo Grandbrothers_old_zps0fcca54b_1.jpg
If you are Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel and saw a bit of commonality in your music, it’s best to call yourselves Grandbrothers, and they did. They want to be around for a long time, so why not create a strong name as well as one that may be corny in the years to come, to show that they are a bit light-hearted? Maybe that’s not why they selected the name but it works and they have chosen it. The group combine their love of jazz and keyboard synthesizer wizardry to come up with something that mixes the old and the new without having people say they sound like either. After releasing their first EP two years ago, they have finished recording, mixing, and mastering their debut
album to be released by FILM on March 2rd called Dilation, which means you’ll be able to see and hear them widely very soon. Have a hint of their music by listening to “Naive Rider”, which sounds like the perfect music for television shows or films.
