“Sounding like Tennis on downers”? I don’t know what that means, nor do I know what the violence in this video has to do with the song Bogan Via call “Kanye”, but then again, there are a lot of things in this world that do not make sense. I say have fun with it. Or not. Or will you? Bret Bender and Madeleine Miller may know the real answers, but they’re not talking. Or if they are, it’s only in song. It’s understandable. Or is it?

The east coast meets up with the west coast in this new video by Kosha Dillz called “West Coast Flavor”, which brings in Rapper Big Pooh from North Carolina, which of course is on the east coast. This one is quite nice, a/k/a the most. One of the best moments of the video is seeing Rapper Big Pooh sit down next to a big Winnie The Pooh.

Taimane Gardner, who goes by the name Taimane professionally, is an ‘ukulele player who has been playing since the age of 5. She has released a number of albums and has made many compilation appearances. This is her performance of “Jonathan” made for Soul Sessions USA and her style in this track is flamenco. If you have never heard the ‘ukulele sound like this, you’ll be pleasantly surprised, as it goes back to what Herb “Ohta-San” Ohta did in the 60′s and 70′s.

This performance of Hawaiian artist Zack Shimizu was done a few nights ago at the Honolulu Night Market. The song has the kind of vibe that you might expect to hear on a beach, in the vein of Donavon Frankenreiter, Rob Machado, or Jack Johnson. It was shot by StreetGrindzTV, whose main purpose is to post about Hawai’i's street food/food cart/food truck/lunch wagon culture but it seems that they captured a nice performance, so I decided to share it with everyone.

In my life, I’ve never heard the term “all that and a plate of wild rice”, but it may happen for Yo’True. Formerly known as a member of Tellison, the man whose mom calls Ben J. Wood will be releasing his debut effort as a solo artist on August 5th called Wild Rice (Rogues). His people call his music “outsider pop” but can you truly be pop and an outsider? Pop music can and does challenge the mind and senses, and Yo’True is about to prove himself to discover the results. Here’s a track for you to listen to, called “The Dough”.

My love of tacos go so deep, I’ll often look around for taco-related videos. There are a small handful of taco documentaries, or more specifically, documentaries on those who create them for the eating public. El El Frijoles is a Mexican restaurant in Sargentville, Maine, made by two people who you would never think would create Mexican food. With a bit of Pacific Northwest roots, the two people behind El El Frijoles decided to start something and it has worked for them. Take a look at their place and see what it takes.
