AUDIO: Kisses’ “Huddle”

Personally, I think it would be cool of these two traded musical roles and called themselves Hisses, who just released a song called “Cuddle”. Until then, I give their true moniker, Kisses. They have a new song to share with everyone called “Huddle”, which is contained on their forthcoming Cascine (US)/Splendour (UK) album due out on May 14th called Kids in LA.

These “kids” will be doing the touring rounds very soon to share their new album in a live setting, so check and see if they will be near you:

RECORD CRACK: Dan Deacon to release 7″ for Record Store Day

He may be holding up a hand gesture of five, but this article represents the number seven. That five is a means of him saying hello so say hello, once more, to Dan Deacon.

He has been performing a song called “Konono Ripoff No. 1″ during performances, and now he’s bringing it to wax in a 45 he will be releasing next month for Record Store Day. 500 copies, each one hand-numbered, are being made and sold, and what makes this record interesting is that it contains two versions of the song, each one with two sets of a “dual drummer” set-up. Kevin O’Meara and Jeremy Hyman will be on the A-side, while Denny Bowen and Dave Jacober will be on the flip.

If the image for the picture sleeve is familiar to some of you, it is a photo taken by Molton Brouff of Whiteside Mountain near Highlands, North Carolina. Brouff’s photo was the winning selection in Deacon’s America Instagram contest, you may also glance at some of the other images submitted for the contest by clicking here.

VIDEO: Dan Deacon’s “True Thrush”

Say hello to Dan Deacon again.

Deacon has had a video made for “True Thrush”, a song from his forthcoming album America that’s due out at the end of August. What I like about this is that the song is produced in a manner that sounds technical and complex, but the video is a bit more human driven than one that involves computers doing things with loops and sound. See what I mean.

As Deacon prepares to release his America album next month, he’s sharing a few tracks from it for you to get deep in. “True Thrush” is the single from the album, with artwork that shows a “double shaka”.

SOME STUFFS: Two big shows for Dan Deacon this week

Photobucket
Dan Deacon will be doing a show tonight in NYC at The Kawfman Center’s Merkin Concert Hall (which will be broadcast live via NPR.com, click here for info), and then next week he’ll be in Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall. Deacon: a master of the concert hall? Maybe it’s not so far fetched as you might think or assume. Then again, if you’re wondering why and aren’t assuming a thing, good. He will be releasing an album later this year, so have a listen to him and see where his music takes you.

March 20… New York, NY (The Kaufman Center’s Merkin Concert Hall)
March 26… New York, NY (Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall)

Dan Deacon has been signed to Domino Records, and he was nice enough to wear a cool looking sweater for the occasion. Here’s that sweater.

This singer/songwriter has been keeping busy not only with his own music, but collaborating in a number of ways, and recently scored the Francis Ford Coppola film, Twixt, so this sweater is a sign of success.
