REVIEW: Have Gun Will Travel’s “Mergers & Acquisitions”

Photobucket The melodies and musicianship on Mergers & Acquisitions‘ (Suburban Home) opening track, “Dream No More”, reminded me a bit of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and how a band should start off an album with a mission in mind and a voyage to go through. Have Gun Will Travel are the missionaries who are willing to do this with their Americana blend that brings in country, folk, and occasional pop styles and turn it into something that a lot of people will find delight in. “To The Victor Go The Spoits” sounds like something that would happen if Bob Dylan joined The Alarm at an US Festival or something, while “Keep It In Your Heart” is the kind of expressive song you might hear coming out of a park circle, where you’d walk up, sing and clap along to. The production on this is superb as well, would love to hear more from Have Gun Will Travel.

(Mergers & Acquisitions is available on vinyl, CD, and MP3 download.)
